Day 16 #Australia, Ulladulla

# First 1000km done
We are now 230 km before Sydney and cycled from Wallaga Lake via Narooma, Dalmeny (very, very lovely place!), Moruya, Broulèe, Batemans Bay, Kioloa to Ulladulla. The weather was mixed (light showers and sunshine).

We tried to avoid the Princes Highway (“Kangaroo-Killer-Road” - it is so sad), and half of the distance it was possible, but sometimes there was no choice.

Today we did a really nice side trip to a place called Pretty Beach. Our GPS navigated us 8 km through an unsealed and quiet adventurous road through the forest and we really had to fight, but it was definitely worth it.

Kangaroo-families obviously use this place (Pretty Beach) also for their holiday, and so they jumped around everywhere. We even saw one kangaroo baby getting into the pouch!

# Birdland - Animal Park  Batemans Bay
On our whale watching tour we met Helen and Greg. This very nice couple used to life in Bad Aibling for 3 years and recommended us the animal park in Batemans Bay. Birdland Animal Park is a park where injured animals get a 2nd chance. If a Kangaroo or Wombat mother was killed by a car, the animal rescue team checks if there is an alive baby in the pouch. If there is, they bring it to Karen and her team in the park and they take care about it untill it is grown up and can be released. During the last days on our pushbikes we saw and smelt so many dead animals killed by cars that it was a great pleasure to see so many of these animals alive!!!

Karen even took us to the koalas. We were lucky, one of them was not sleeping. That’s real luck, because Koalas sleep 20 hours a day!

Our afternoon at the Birdland Park was very great and really good fun, and we learned so much about the Australian animals. Karen, thank you so much for your effort, and we hope we see you soon again. Maybe in Austria, maybe in Germany, maybe in Alaska.

# Advent, Advent
